Our Values

Every Child Is Welcome
We believe life is sacred, no matter the person. We accept all orphaned children regardless of upbringing, religion, faith, or location.

Support Non- Orphans In Need
We provide community and support to children in child labor, or with parents who are neglecting, abusive, or impoverished to provide hope and enrichment in their lives.

Provide Education To Build Our Community
We strive to educate and instill values to the children to help one another, promote goodness, and empower the next generation of community leaders.
Our Story
2014 - Working in the community, Justine Wakhungu saw a great need to support orphans and needy children near Mbale, Uganda. She made it her dream to start an orphanage named “Hope Community Initiative”, but did not receive the support needed.
2018 - Justine began supporting children in her home, providing a space for activities and learning. Supporters from California donated clothes and books for the children. Our supporter Andrea set up our Facebook page with a new name: God’s Hand for the Needy Orphanage.

Justine - Our Founder
2020 - After receiving community support and recognition for our work, we partnered with a local school to provide a larger space for the children to meet after school hours. We continued to receive donations of books, cups, plates, and funds with the goal of feeding the hungry children and constructing our own facility.
2021 - Fundraising from the US, UK, Puerto Rico, and other countries allowed us to construct our own facility for children to meet, learn, and support each other.
2023 - Through your support, we are now a registered community-based organization in Uganda, and provide space, support, and food to 220 children during regular events and activities at our 6-room building.
Next - Our dream is to fully finish our facility to begin housing 120 girls and 80 boys. Every little bit helps, and with support we can make this dream a reality.

Success Stories
Ronald (Age 14)
Ronald was born with a disability, and is an orphan who lost both of his parents when he was 7 years old. For a while, he was brought up by his step grandmother, then his aunt, both unfortunately passing away. At 8 years old, Ronald ran away from home and the community. Ronald found God’s Hand For The Needy, and through the help and support of a gracious sponsor Ronald was able to gain an education in motorcycle repair. At age 14, he now lives a fulfilling life, and is a hardworking, kind, and humble young man.

Janet (Age 16)
Janet was born into an extremely poor and impoverished family with 11 brothers and sisters. As a child her parents were unable to afford to support her and take care of her basic needs such as food, clothing, and school. At God’s Hand generous partner sponsored Janet, and she has since learned the art of tailoring. With her new skills and support she is now empowered to support herself and her family. We are blessed to be a part of her life story.

Rachael (Age 20)
Rachel was born into a community exposed to high levels of illness and disease. Without support and availability of medical services, her parents died due to disease when Rachael was a child. Since then, her dream has been to study nursing in order to help disease stricken communities. She is a very hard worker, but after finishing secondary school, she was unable to afford nursing school. She found God’s Hand at age 14, and joined our community for support. With the help of generous sponsors, Rachael’s dream is now a reality and she is attending nursing school at the largest University in Uganda.

Special Thanks To All Supporters!

Special thanks to Bridgette Parish for encouraging us to start a project of supporting orphans in the community, and for praying for the orphans and God's provisions. From California, she has donated clothing and books, and has supported two girls in their passions of hair dressing and tailoring.
Special thanks to Dr. Beth Willis Johnson and her dear husband for sponsoring Racheal, an orphan who had lost hope for her future. GHFTN is grateful to God for their support, as she is now finishing her final year in nursing school at the biggest University in Uganda!
Special thanks to Leslie Bartlett for being a supporter of our work. Her caring extends also to the Indigenous peoples in Canada.

Help Our Albino Children

Children born with Albinism are considered outcasts in the community, even by family members. They are often neglected and stigmatized, and face challenges and lack of support.
We aspire to help these children grow and gain support. Every little bit helps to provide for these children who are ostrasized by the community.
Child labor and Child Protection

"Eradicating child labor and safeguarding child protection is our collective duty to ensure every child's right to a safe and nurturing environment."
EMPOWER A GIRL CHILD
In our society, girls are discriminated, deprived of education , and abused just because they are girls. We advocate for the rights of all children , fight against early marriages, give them education support , and ensure that they have whatever it , takes for them to succeed in life . You can help a girl child to overcome menstrual, stigma by giving her a reusable sanitary pad of 3 which works for the 3 years

Back To School Campaign

The return to school is an important and hopefully welcome step , but to some children it’s a nightmare because they no longer have parents and some parents are no longer in position to cater for their children’s education.
Therefore, this campaign focuses on those children who are left orphans and those who were once had a change of studying but now are not able because of Covid19 extreme poverty , mud slides and death . We provide them with scholastic materials covering for the whole year as we observe their guardians , parents financial status.
Those with devastating situations will then be enrolled into our child sponsorship program if God provides.
Your gift will help a child get back to school, brighten her/his chances of getting a better future and opens a door for us to share the gospel of Christ with entire family and community.
